Save Time As School Starts

Brienna Rossiter, Focus Readers Editor

As the end of August approaches, many of us are trying to soak up as much summer as possible. But for teachers, the start of the school year is already here. You’re setting up classrooms, beginning assessments, and writing lesson plans.

To help make this busy season a little less hectic, every Focus Readers book comes with a short lesson plan for a worksheet, game, or activity you can use in your classroom. These lessons are directly linked to state or national standards, even for the youngest students. For example, the activity for We Learn at School aligns with the Common Core standards to help students explore how a book’s pictures and text work together.

Each series includes a variety of formats and concepts, giving you many options for how to use the books in your classroom. For instance, other lesson plans in the Activities We Do series help students practice sentence structure, vocabulary, and alphabetical order.

Complete with supply lists and answer keys, these activities provide a fast, easy way to help you get the year off to a good start.
