MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN, September 1, 2017 – Jolly Fish Press, an imprint of North Star Editions, Inc. (NSE) is excited to announce the January 1, 2018 release of Two to Tango, the lead title for Second Chance Ranch, a new, animal and family-focused series for middle-grade readers ages 8-14. The series is written by Kelsey Abrams and illustrated by Jomike Tejido.

Young readers are introduced to the Ramirez family, a diverse family of six who own and run Second Chance Ranch, an animal rescue and rehabilitation ranch in Texas. Books in the series will explore themes of family life, friendship, adoption, school, and animal care.

About Two to Tango (ISBN: 978-1-63163-153-5)
Natalie Ramirez has a lot on her plate. She can’t seem to get Second Chance Ranch’s newest rescued horse, Tango, to barrel race. She’s also missing her best friend Sophia who recently moved away. A new girl in town, Darcy, seems like she could be bestie material, but she doesn’t like to do any of the things Natalie and Sophia did together – and she’s allergic to animals! Can Natalie help Tango learn a new skill while she learns a few of her own?

At Second Chance Ranch, the Ramirez family cares and works to find homes for all kinds of animals on their 200-acre ranch in Texas. Sisters Natalie (12), Abby (10), and twins Emily and Grace (9) all do their part to help out and give each animal the second chance it deserves.

All books in the series are 120 pages, 5″ x 7.5″ paperback trade originals, priced at $7.99. Additional formats available include reinforced library binding (list: $27.13, school/library: $18.99), multi-user hosted e-book ($23.99), and single-user e-book ($7.99).

Three additional titles will be released simultaneously on January 1, 2018. Digital review copies available upon request.

It’s Not Destiny (ISBN: 978-1-63163-145-0)
Abby has her hands full with an anxious German shepherd, Destiny. While Abby helps Destiny learn to trust, Abby has to learn to overcome her own habits. Can Abby use the skills she used on Destiny to overcome her fear of the ocean in time for the family beach trip?

Taking Chances (ISBN:
978-1-63163-149-8)
Grace has always rushed headlong into things. Grace tries to be thoughtful and responsible when helping with her elderly neighbor’s prize-winning cat, Chances, but it isn’t easy. Can Grace slow down enough to keep the people (and animals) she cares for safe? Or can taking chances be a good thing?

Wild Midnight (ISBN: 978-1-63163-157-3)
Emily wants to rescue a wild mustang, but settles for helping muck out stalls at a nearby ranch. She earns a reputation as a horse whisperer after calming Midnight, a mustang that others cannot control. But even Emily can’t help when Midnight gets loose during a tornado. Or can she?
