Pride Picks from Mia Siegert

Happy Monday! We’re back today with another in our guest post series for pride month! Today’s post was written by Mia Siegert, author of Jerkbait. Check out her selections below, then be sure to enter our giveaway to win a bundle of books from all of our guest author bloggers!

3 Perfect Pride Picks

When The Moon Was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore
With its beautiful prose, McLemore describes When the Moon Was Ours as a love letter to her husband. A striking love story woven with magic with terrific transgender and queer rep as well as POC main characters.

White Rabbit by Caleb Roehrig
This is just a super fun, action-packed queer whodunit. Roehrig takes us on an exhilarating ride as he explores facets that resonate with many readers, ones who would do anything for a little money to help their family survive, even if it means putting themselves in danger.

Fat Angie by e.E Charlton-Trujillo
This might be my favorite f/f YA ever, although its tongue-in-cheek writing style might not suit everyone. The story revolves around a lonely, fat teen with severe depression stemming from her sister (missing in Iraq) and her intense feelings for a cute fandom-obsessed girl. Gut-wrenching in many parts.

About the author

Mia Siegert has been published in Clapboard HouseWord Riot, The Limn Literary & Arts Journal as well as a few other small presses. A short reading of JERKBAIT was performed by the New Jersey Playwrights Association where it was tremendously received. Siegert currently works as an adjunct professor and a costume designer. She lives in New Jersey.

Jerkbait
Identical twins Robbie and Tristan are high school hockey players – but that’s where their similarities end. Secrets, hidden desires, and the high stakes pressure of the professional sports world combine forcing each twin to decide just how far he will go.

We’ll have even more selections later this week! Happy pride from Mia and all of us at Flux!
